Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week, we were preoccupied with Met Office weather warnings, the safety of the school site and local roads and footpaths, driving conditions, and the extremely difficult decision taken to close the school. As you are aware, the school’s closure was unavoidable and most other schools in the vicinity were closed too. I am very grateful for the understanding and patience demonstrated by parents and children. Thank you.
As a result of the school’s closure, several different events and visits had to be postponed. We have now re-booked the school visits for Year 1 and Year 3 children to Centre for Life in Newcastle (please see below for details). The parents of pupils in Mrs King’s class should have received a letter offering several options for rescheduling parents’ evening. If your child is in Fir class and you haven’t received this letter, please contact Miss Heron in the school office.
We celebrated World Book Day in school today. Thank you to everyone for helping us make this a very special day for our children. You will see from the photograph below that Kells Lane was transformed into a well-known chocolate factory for the day. Thank you to the staff for all their efforts!
It’s wonderful to see the sun finally shining today too.
Have a great weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs A Whistler
Headteacher
