Friday Bulletin – 5th February 2016
It’s all systems go next week in preparation for our Year 5 residential visit to PGL at Winmarleigh Hall. I am sure there will be a few excited children arriving at school on Wednesday morning (reminder: children to be in school for 8am please). The coach is aiming to depart well before the start of the school day; this should not interfere with your normal drop off arrangements.
As we approach the end of another half term, it seems an appropriate time to thank the children and staff for all their hard work since Christmas. Children in all year groups appear to be enjoying their new topics and are still working hard to fulfil their potential. Year 6 have been taking part in ‘Morning Maths’ sessions before school and are so keen to learn, they have asked Mrs Anderson- Harrison if a lunchtime ‘Hungry Spellers’ club would be possible.
Spelling is one of the areas we are working hard to improve this year. We greatly appreciate your time and effort in helping your child to learn their spellings at home. We are now able to identify many of our children frequently applying these spelling strategies, independently, through creative writing. In my experience, learning basic skills such as spelling and times tables makes an enormous difference to a child’s confidence, pace of learning and levels of achievement. Thank you for your support with this.
Have a nice weekend.
