Dear Parents and Carers,
As work on the first phase of our playground project draws to an end this week, it seems like a good time to reflect upon all the developments in school this year and get ready for an action-packed half term in June and July.
We continue to move forward in developing our practice in teaching and learning. Our ‘growth mindset’ approach is now thoroughly embedded across the school and the impact is that children demonstrate, on a daily basis, their resilience, confidence and ability to take risks. We have made some bold changes to our curriculum in the last two years and are now secure in the delivery of a ‘Mastery’ approach to the maths curriculum. The result of these changes is that our children are much more self-assured in using and applying their mathematics skills through problem-solving. Perhaps the most daring change we made was to our Year 1 curriculum. Our ‘Negotiated Curriculum’ approach has been hugely successful in developing independent, confident learners with incredible self-discipline and motivation.
Next term, we will begin planning for a smooth transition in September. I will update you on staffing arrangements in the first week of next half term.
In the meantime, enjoy your half term break.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs A Whistler
Headteacher
